Race for Education – decision was made on Tues to postpone Race to next Fri because of weather; times will stay the same; come out and cheer on your students; donations have started coming in and some mailers are still being sent in
Spring Fling – April 25th 11-3
- Still need some games
- Briar Bush will have a table
- Food and bake sale are under control
- will be collecting student family donations for raffle baskets; will possibly not be limited to certain theme for each grade, everyone send in anything they have
- Diane Schwartz will do pottery class again; don’t need to pre-order, can still sign up day of
- Will need volunteers 8-4 for set-up, working at fling and breakdown, signup genius will go out
- discussion about using wristbands instead of individual tickets; would be $10 with unlimited game play (possibly only through pre-sale, still have tickets for sale at Fling; Claire checking with Overlook to see how theirs works)
- Packet almost ready to go, just need some final details
- Book sale will be outside with a tent
- plant sale
- Will have some things out front, some out back
- Jack & Jill ice cream truck waiting for approval
Scholastic Book Sale – this week during conferences; volunteers still needed
Mr. Etlen update – PSSA testing coming up 4/14-17 for ELA; Math 4/21-23; Science (grade 4 only) 4/28-29; Mr. Etlen will give a motivational speech on 4/13 encouraging the kids to do their best
Treasurer Report – financial report was distributed
Sixth grade – remaining money from last year’s class will possibly go toward a plaque, or window etching of huskies on cafeteria windows; would be great to frame all past 6th grade t-shirts and hang around the gym, adding new one each year; possible class gift could be LED sign in front of school, would need township approval
Husky Happenings – potentially changing from weekly newsletter to monthly or quarterly; also have more online presence
- problems with moving more online – homes with no internet access; no printer at home to print out forms that need to be returned to school
- although the change to electronic packets did not lead to students/parents not signing up for things
- issue with getting rid of weekly communication, need to make sure parents are still getting all important information – use skyward, facebook
- some flyers would still need to go out on Thurs, then teachers are left with the responsibility of distribution
- will need more people to come in on Thursday morning each week to assemble packets
- Valerie McCormick graciously volunteered to take over putting the newsletter together each week next year, but she will need parents to be at the school on Thursday mornings to assemble packets
- need the ability to print in the PTO room, there is currently no way to log on to the PTO computer, so an outside computer must be brought in and hooked up to the printer
AEF Carnival – next Friday night, Family Fun Night 3/27
- our PTO does need to be represented
- they already have the games HIghland offered to bring, we don’t have other options that are easy to transport and able to be set up inside
- Laura will follow up with Ellen Destefano from Parent Council
Next PTO meetings: April 13th at 7:00pm and May 11th at 9:00am
