Community E-Fliers

From Mr. Etlen: “Parents/guardians, please do not forget to periodically check out the ASD Community e-Fliers located in the News & Announcements section of the ASD website (http://tinyurl.com/HighlandFliers). There you will find a lot of great information about activities and events in our community.”

Spring Skating Party

Come on out and party with the sixth grade at Highland’s Spring Skating Party! It’s the perfect opportunity for even the youngest skaters to come and learn how to skate, as Highland has rented the Palace Roller Skating and Fun Center (11600 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19116) on Sunday, March 8, from 5:30–7:30PM. Parents of beginners can walk on the rink with their children. More advanced skaters are welcome to bring their inline skates. It’s the perfect way to end the weekend! Please see the flyer in this week’s packet for ticket information, or contact Tina Stancavage (tmx2000@verizon.net, 215-706-4437). Hope to see you all there!

Scholastic Book Fair

It’s almost time for the Scholastic Book Fair! This year’s dates are March 12–19. The fair will be held during conferences, and we need volunteers to make it happen. Please go to http://tinyurl.com/HighlandBookFair15 to sign up to help via Signup Genius. Please feel free to contact Georelle Farward (gfarward@gmail.com) with any questions. Thank you!

AEF Family Fun Night

From Mr. Etlen: “Don’t forget to mark your calendars and get your tickets: The Abington Education Foundation is having Family Fun Night at the Senior High on Friday, March 27 from 6:00–9:00PM. Tickets are available in the front office: $10 per person/$35 for a family of 4.”

Spring Fling Used Book Drive

With the snow still outside, it’s hard to believe that Spring Fling is coming up, but it is—and we’re starting to get ready! We are beginning to collect used books for the Spring Fling Book Sale. The collection box is in front of the Highland library. Please bring in your used books so we can raise money AND re-circulate good books! Thank you!

Assignment Books/Husky Folders Chairperson Needed

We are looking for someone to take over the responsibility of ordering the student assignment books and Husky folders for next year. Responsibilities include ordering the books and folders, sending out flyers to students to purchase assignment books, collecting money, and distributing assignment books at the beginning of the school year. The time commitment involved is the last few weeks of June and the first few weeks of September. If you are willing to take on this important role for our school or would like additional information, please contact Susan Schied (slschied@verizon.net).

What If…?

What if you could be considered a Highland Hero every single week? What if you could do a job that everyone THINKS is hard and complicated but is actually really easy and comes with all kinds of templates to use? What if you could walk through solid objects just by focusing the power of your mind? Do you sometimes as “What if…”? Then perhaps YOU are the right person to take over as Husky Happenings Editor next year. Please contact John Spiegelman at spiegs@spiegs.net… TODAY!
