Highland Elementary PTO Meeting Minutes

Welcome:
Georelle and Jaclyn welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Principal’s Remarks:
Dr. Etlen hopes everyone enjoyed Spring Break. He thanked the PTO for the robotics assembly and said it was very exciting. The 6th graders will all be heading to the senior high this week to attend a bullying prevention program. The 6th grade car was a huge success and raised over $900! He mentioned that next year it might be a good idea to hold the car wash the week after Spring Fling so students would be able to advertise at the event. April was poetry month and faculty members read poems over the announcements each morning. Everyone is excited for Science Day which was rescheduled for 5/2. On 5/17 Google will be providing an activity for students providing access to “augmented reality”.
Treasurer’s Report:
The PTO paid for the K/1st grade field trips. We profited $400 on the name that tune fundraiser and this year’s Special Person’s Dance made some money as well. We also received a refund of $100 from the post prom fund (the high school no longer runs this program).
Other Business:
Spring Fling– We are still looking for book donations and volunteers for the fling.
Science Day– Science Day has been rescheduled for 5/2. All volunteer positions were filled!
Snap pizza fundraiser– Monday 5/7 @ 4:00-8:00pm
Art and Ice Cream Social– Will be held Wednesday 5/23 @ 6:30pm
Field Day– Will be held Friday 5/11
Thank you new chairs!- Jennifer Evangelist- website, Jame Hyers- Husky Happenings, Kristin Glennon- Family Fun Night, Brittany Sullivan- President
Fun Run- Highland parent Ken Myers informed the board he may possibly be going in to business with APEX Fun Run, a school fundraising franchise and gave some information to those in attendance.
